Auto Body Repair

Auto Body gives you the opportunity to rebuild and restore damaged cars. You can fix a fender bender or transform a total wreck; paint a Camaro or repair a Mustang. Paint finishing, glass replacing, and fiberglass repairs are some of the tasks you will master by working on cars. Use the most up-to-date equipment to straighten damaged frames, remove dents from fenders, weld torn metal, and replace damaged parts. Course work and class experience provide the knowledge needed to grow with the latest technological changes in the auto body field. There is a wide variety of employment possibilities when you have gained the experience this program has to offer.

The curriculum utilizes ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified instructional materials, a symbol of quality in this industry. You will learn the valuable skills and knowledge that will help you to enter this changing and growing field.

Auto Body Repair I

This program is designed to provide the student with job-entry skills for Auto Body repair equipment, body repair and alignment, refinishing, welding techniques, frame and chassis repairs and estimating. Emphasis is placed on technical knowledge as well as the manual skills associated with auto body craftsmanship.

Auto Body Repair II

The second year of this program features a continuation of the skills covered in the first year. Students learn management skills in addition to advanced technical skills. Qualified second-year students may be placed in Cooperative Education work experiences, upon approval of the instructor and availability of jobs.

Prerequisite: Auto Body Repair I

Further Educational Opportunities

Qualified students continue their educations at 2 or 4 year post-secondary institutions.

Job Prospects

Every three to four years the average person’s car receives some type of body damage. This means steady employment for those individuals who have auto body repair skills. Successful students have excellent Cooperative Education opportunities during the time they are enrolled in this program. Many of these work experiences lead to full time employment after high school.
