Cooperative Education (CO-OP) is an extension of our technical programs which enables students to develop both their technical and general employability skills through supervised, planned work experiences with area employers. These work based learning experiences include Career Work Experiences (unpaid, short-term internships), Cooperative Technical Education (long term, salaried positions) and Student Apprenticeship which is long term salaried and certified by the State Board of Education.
Students enrolled in BTC programs can earn college credit through established articulation agreements with related colleges as specified in the program descriptions. High school students enrolled in BTC programs are also able to enroll in college courses at Burlington College, Community College of Vermont, Saint Michael’s College and the University of Vermont through the Burlington School District College Connections program.
Students enrolled in BTC programs have the opportunity to host German exchange students in the fall. BTC students then travel to Germany in the spring.
BTC students are able to compete in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America’s statewide competition each year. They can win valuable scholarships, tools and the first place winners travel to Kansas City during the summer to compete at the national level.
