After a year of planning, the new Criminal Justice program is up and running with a group of enthusiastic and dedicated students and their teacher. Dave Scibek, our teacher, is a 20 year veteran of the Burlington Police Department. Dave graduated from St. Michael's College with a degree in business. He is also a volunteer fire fighter and member of the state Hazmat Team. Dave has embraced his new roll as a teacher and is working to develop another outstanding college preparatory BTC program. The students started the year studying the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They then moved on to the history of policing. They will continue to study the many facets of police work. They will also learn about the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and will work on first aid, CPR and AED certifications. The class will soon embark on some exciting field trips including a trip to Sturbridge Village and attendance at a conference on forensics.
