STUDENTS PAST AND PRESENT MEET WITH SUCCESS

James Lambert at Blodgett Oven Company

Culinary/Professional Foods and BFA, Fairfax graduate Silas Pollitt was recently featured in the Alumni Magazine of the Culinary Institute of America. Silas has been awarded the Alumni Scholarship at that institution. The magazine reported that Silas greatly enjoyed his time at BTC and that “during a class on running a public restaurant he loved learning all about food service and food production”. While at the CIA Silas has participated in an externship at The Sanderling Resort and Spa in Duck, North Carolina. Silas's goal is to work in the catering department of a sports arena in a major city.

James Lambert, a Milton High School senior, enrolled in Welding/Metal Fabrication got high marks from the managers at Blodgett Oven Company. We visited James at Blodgett's where he is working on a Coop assignment. Supervisor, Dan Coolbeth writes, “James displays work ethics and dependability well beyond a young adult. I would not hesitate to make James a full time Blodgett employee”.

While on our field trip to Blodgett's we learned that the company had been in business for over 150 years and is considered to be the world leader in commercial oven manufacturing. The company provides high paying jobs with good benefits right here in Burlington.
