Eco Clob’s Jack Palmer
The BTC Welding/Metal Fabrication and Mechanical Engineering & Design Technology classes and the BHS Eco Club have collaborated to build an additional bike rack for the school. After Jack Parmer of the Eco Club presented the idea of the bike rack, the Mechanical Engineering students designed the rack and used the plasma cutter to cut out the BTC and BHS initials. The Welding students used the pipe bender and welding equipment to manufacture the rack. The rack will be placed near the front entrance of BHS. In the spirit of recycling, it will be made of scrap metal left over from other projects. It will hold about seven bikes.
Since the beginning of this school year, students can walk or bike to school for community service credit. There is a special form for this program in the grade office and the Career Direction Center. Instead of working for a nonprofit organization, students walk or bike to school twenty four times, record the dates on the form and have their parents sign it.
BTC and BHS look forward to other collaborative projects in the future.
