Kyle Green and the Bead Crazy Sign
When Ginger Morton called and asked if there was a second year design student who would be interested in designing a logo for her new store, Bead Crazy, I immediately thought of Kyle Green. Not only was he a friend and former classmate of Ginger’s daughter, Erin, he was also a conscientious student who enjoyed creating logos. Erin was busy with college and only had time to come up with a rough sketch and concept for the logo—a series of bead shapes, strung together to spell out “Bead Crazy.”
Kyle created some preliminary sketches and layouts based on Erin’s sketch. As a second-year student, he had just completed a workplace project where each of the students had to play the roles of both client and designer. As designers, they had to meet their client’s need for a logo, ad, brochure or signage and work within the client’s budget. As clients, they had to clearly communicate with the designers what they were hoping to achieve for their business with the completed design pieces. It turned out to be perfect timing for Kyle’s experience working with Ginger. He acknowledged that the role-playing gave him more confidence and a guideline for meeting with a real client.
Bead Crazy offers a wide variety of beads and jewelry findings. They also offer classes for those who wish to learn about different techniques and projects using beads. Bead Crazy is located at Taft’s Corner in Williston and has officially been in operation since July 2003. The colorful sign, created from Kyle’s logo, is fun and welcoming. Stop by when you’re in the area and check out the merchandise as well as Kyle’s professional design work. It is an excellent example of a Burlington Technical Center student succeeding at applying his talents to the needs of the business.
