Practice Taking Blood Pressure
It’s that time of the year again. Seniors are scrambling to get their college applications in with last minute requests for reference letters, multiple drafts of essays and the apprehension involved in choosing a major. Will it be the right one?
Medical and Sports Sciences seniors are in various stages of the application process. Some have already been accepted at their top choices (University of Vermont-Physical Therapy program, Elon University, St. Michael’s College) and some have recently submitted applications for a January deadline (University of Connecticut, James Madison). These students are more confident about their chosen major given that most have already spent more than forty hours observing medical professionals at work. They have participated in cooperative learning experiences set up in collaboration with Fletcher Allen Health Care, local high schools, and private practices. These experiences serve to really confirm for the students that they are choosing the right major.
Feedback from former students has been extremely positive about the value of this program to their education. “This program has really put me a step ahead of my peers, my teachers can’t believe how much I already know,” states one student. Former Medical and Sports Sciences students are currently represented at schools like Norwich University, UVM, Sacred Heart, Southern New Hampshire University and Hesser College.
